Races Shortened by Mother Nature
by Andrew Schaller
COLUMBUS, WI (Friday, July 30, 2010) After the completion of heat race action on Friday night at Columbus 151 Speedway, Mother Nature moved in as rain began to fall on the racing surface. The remainder of the program was forced to be rescheduled for next Friday, August 6 in addition to the regularly scheduled program. Double features in all divisions will highlight next week's racing action with extra money added to the purse courtesy of Capital Water Softeners. Time trials begin at 6:30 with racing at 8pm.

About the Raceway...
The Columbus 151 Speedway is Wisconsins
family track without a doubt. The track is home to many parent-child,
husband-wife, sibling-sibling, and many other related teams. The track is especially
honored to have third generation drivers Rikki and Bobbi Bishofberger racing on the ground
their mother, father and grandfathers laid rubber on years ago.

The
family atmosphere continues up into the stands where there is a safe
playground for children and plenty of bench seating for families to
enjoy the races together. Kids are important to the Speedway. The
souvenir stand sells glow sticks, glow pops, and other fun things
for the young ones.
Columbus 151 Speedway was the late Dick Moore's passion, and
ownership is still maintained by his family, many of who serve the
track in different capacities.
The track itself is a semi-banked asphalt oval, tricky for novice
drivers to get accustomed to, but a power plant for veterans. Two
definite grooves make side-by-side racing possible, and it is rare
that the pole sitter wins the race with the powerful higher and
lower lanes.
The Speedway is the perfect place to go for families looking for
inexpensive fun on Friday nights. Qualifying does not start until
6:30, and racing until 8:00 so families can enjoy time after long
hours at work and eat at the track. Even better, admission is only
$9 for adults, $8 for teens and the grandparents, $4 for children
6-10 years old and the young ones are free.
Come out to the Columbus 151 Speedway Friday night to see Late
Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, 4-Cylinder Bandits, and wild
and crazy Backup Cars, occasionally joined by additional exhibition
classes and traveling series.
